I am aware of the debian patches, and also that the debian package has
been orphaned. I'm sorry I haven't given specimen any attention. But, I
am thinking of adopting the debian package sometime soon under the
pkg-multimedia-maintainers team. Then I'll hopefully at least apply bug
fixes to the main repo. ubuntu might also have some patches that should
be looked into. There are also a number of patches that have been sitting
in the mailing list here for years waiting for me to do something with
them.
